Default Over head console buttons

I was going over the schematics for my car and came accross the over head console garage door push buttons. I dont use these buttons for anything but there is an orange (hot all the time) and white ground , these could be tapped into for all sorts of stuff except the wiring is a bit remote.
Guess I'll have to look into remote control switching units, maybe something could be stuffed in there?

I have the same thing...basically your car will learn the signal of your garage door opener and it acts as a replacement.

I guess I wasnt clear
are these buttons programmed for a garage door opener or can they be used for other things (ie neons).?
Is anyone else using these buttons for anything other than a garage door opener?

OK, you could probably use them for something else, you would have to take the console apart and wire in to those switches that are there.

They are for "homelink" if I'm not mistaken.
Aren't they mometary buttons, IE they are only "on" when they are being held down.
If so you might have a bit of a time rewiring them.

I found an RF 4 chanel kit, This can be adapted to fit any where and you can get another remote.
The fob would have to be wired up for 12 volt (zener diode) and the buttons replaced with the stock ones for a stealth install. http://www.electronickits.com/kit/co...lec/ck1616.htm

Looks like you would have to wire the console buttons up to the remote.

I _think_ that white "ground" is actually the switched ground for the interior light circuit, only active as a ground when a door is open or you turn the headlamp **** fully counterclockwise. Otherwise it'* open and nonfunctional.

There may be a full-time ground up there somewhere; look for a black wire, not a white one.

It'* tricky but I got a set up from Radio shack and can turn on lights in my house when I get home. Short range though.
