VERY odd brake light problem. Help! *Fixed!*
Ok, so I go to take a nap and i get waken up by my neighbor who said my car'* brake lights won't go off... i was already sceptacle of the situation.
So I went out there and just sure, the 1st stage BRAKE LIGHTS on the outsides of the lower lenses were shining. But the high stop brake light was off...I pressed the brake and the top came on but changed nothing for the bottom.
So I started her up and almost sputtered and died after 10 seconds of running, but then caught her idle and went back to normal...
so I try the signals..left, then right, then the hazards. the brake lights blink like they should, but are still lit up bright as if someone was holding the pedal there right infront of me.
so I hop in, back out, and take her for a 5 minute drive. I have no idea WHY i had some idea that this would fix it, but i did it. I got on the highway just outside my apts here and got up to 60 and then hit the brakes as hard as i could. (ok, these all new brakes i bought recently...WORK)
I have no BRAKE light, no SES light, none of that, and the brakes are performing flawlessly...
So when I got home, I backed into my garage and noticed, hey! they're off now.
so please tell me guys, WHAT JUST HAPPENED? And what can i check to ensure it won't happen again? I'm not sure I can fix it so easily next time.

Look up from under the driver footwell & with brake pedal relaxed it should be engaging the brake light limit switch. It may just need a minor adjustment.

Tonight the problem got really bad. No matter what, that thing would NOT go off. So I decided to go RIGHT to advance. Tthey didn't have the switch, but will have it by tomorrow afternoon.
I looked up under there, but my hush panel blocks out most everything, so tomorrow, I will really get into it.
The switch is only 11 some dollars so, I'm not real worried about replacing it, I don't think its just out of asjustment because then it wouldn't be intermittent. Or would it?
