VATS question

I had my security light come on constantly so I by-passed the VATS system with resistors:nm. This eliminated the light but now I have a new issue. Every couple of days (usually in the mornings) when I attempt to start the car it is dead. Everything else work but the engine will not turn over at all. What I've found will make it work is to pop the trunk and turn the truck switch on/off and then pop the hood and wiggle the battery cables (even though they are not loose). Once I do this, the car starts with no problems for a couple of days. Any ideas or recommendations as to what I can do to eliminate this?

Thanks,

Take off the battery cables and clean them up. That's your problem.

Ayup... I don't think the trunk-slamming has anything to do with it, but the cable-wiggling does. Don't just check the connections at the battery; follow each cable to its _other_ end and check there as well. The problem may have more to do with a bad ground than a bad battery connection.
