Post Fixing 2002 Climate Control

The illumination lights for my heater control were lighting only 1/2 of the Heater/AC controls. The LEDS for the 8 control buttons were fine. You only need to replace the 4 soldered in light bulbs shown in the pictures. Radio Shack has these bulbs in stock. You will need a small but hot soldering iron, solder, and solder wix to help remove excess solder. Remove heater/ ac control from the car and it can be taken apart with a small screwdriver by prying up the black clips. Then remove the boards with a T-10 torx and just press the clips on back side to remove connector from the other half of the case. Remove and replace the solder type lightbulbs indicated in the picture. Be carefull not to get any solder in between solder joints as this will result in short. Pins B2 & B3 are to give power to the lights. You may as well just replace all 4 of them. Mine work great. This is not a real fun job but much cheaper than replacing control just because the light bulbs burnt out. Not a bad idea to have some help too. Doing this alone was a challange.

Dan,
Should this be under How to, or Do it yourself? Just a thought.

Nice repair Jim. I'm going to move this to The Electrical section where it fits better and leave it there for discussion/comments and will put a copy of it into our How To section. Thanks for the thread and submission.
