Installing DIC
Hey guys, been doing some searches but havent found what im looking for. I'm wondering if you can install a DIC in a non DIC car, given you get one from the same year? Is it just plug in wiring wise into a certain connector, or do you have to trace the wires out etc...? Thanks

The reason I ask is because, atleast according to W-body.com, the grand prix/regal/cutlass are all just plug into the c200 if you get one from the same year. Thought maybe it might be the same for our cars.

It seems that you would have to change the dash board also. You would require a DIC display on that section of dash board in addition to the DIC selector pushbuttons, E/M, trip reset, mode, select, reset. What year/trim level Bonne do you have?

I have a 94 SE. I got it for 1000 two days ago with 65,000 on it. which is a lot less than i planned on spending so i have a few bucks for interior/exterior/performance. I doubt ide try to put it in the dash but if its possible to literally slpice the DIC into a non DIC car and have it work than ide find a place to mount it.
shortstuf212559 as far as the lumina goes im not sure, but on w-body.com they have people who've put them in luminas and they hook right up in gps, cutlass, and regals. So i was going out on a limb hopeing maybe it would be a similiar case in our cars.

mcc, you have an analog odometer and tripmeter. The DIC is fully digital. At least that part won't function for you.
I assume you're talking about the SSEi DIC as well, which has a fully-functional lamp monitor as well. It honestly wouldn't be worth your time to try to make it work.

maybe consider installing a DIC from a 88-91, and mounting it under the radio in the empty place there... the 88-91'* dont have the odometer and trip in them... but you would have to get the lamp monitor module and wire that all in also

I would agree; the amount of effort required is prohibitive (you need an entire gauge cluster replacement just to start, plus you need an Adaptive Lamp Monitor unit, different wiring harness, etc., etc.). But more to the point: this isn't really a rare option package that you would be trying to recreate; any SSE/SSEi has one. If you're not particularly attached to _this_ car that you have now, give it a nice cleaning and a wax, sell it and go get an SSE or SSEi instead; I think you're going to be happier that way.
Speaking for myself only, I'll take a full tricked-out warbird like the SSEi over a "civilian" model SE anyday... No offense to those who like theirs, though.
