Transmission Shifting problem...elec.?

Have a 1995 Pontiac Bonneville SE / Suspect an electrical problem causing the transmission not to operate normally. Here's the story. But first, I will let you know that my transmission was rebuilt twice due to this problem and was never remedied.

When I start the car in motion the transmission will not shift down to the next gear when it should. This does not happen 'all' the time. Sometimes - it shifts perfectly through all gears. Anyways...while increasing my speed (smoothly gaining speed) the transmission takes awhile before shifting. And when it finally does shift down - it races somewhat just before going to the next gear. Hope this is clear to any readers. Also, If I decide to go into passing gear, (at times) the engine will go into passing gear but the transmission seems to not allow the power to be transfered to the drive train. Like it gets hung up in the passing gear and (again) not shifting down.

I was told this could be an electrical problem due to the transmission being electrically governed.

Has anyone had this experience?

I was also told it could be as simple as a bad connection somewhere.

BUT! There are times when it runs great - no problems with the shifting.

I will be interested in what anyone has to say concerning this scenario.

John
