time for BC to shine, help dad fix the 97

while my dad is working on my tranny on the 95, i have the 97 ssei. 8)

the only reason my mom let me have it, is because she hates the car right now...a bonnie owner hating their car?? WHAT?? here is the situation, and since im driving it, i wanna help figure it out also.

my dad is a certified mechanic, and cant figure this out, actually just doesnt wanna waste money tryin to..

he has not run codes yet, because of his theory of the check engine light having to be on in order to have codes. i will stop by autozone tomorrow to have them scan it.

ALL FUSES ARE GOOD

here is the problem with the 1997 SSEi
none of the power door locks work, with remote or switches
none of the interior lights work, with the door closed or open, with the switches on or off.

so far he has:
replaced the remote assembly control module with a used unit - didnt work - thinks it was part #25075066
spliced and grounded orange and white wires (as pictured) to make ONLY map lights work

the other modules that could be replaced, but doesnt wanna spend money trying on are:
powertrain module
pass key module
remote function accuator module
oil level module

so right now, i have to manually lock the doors and there are no interior lights when entering or exiting car...kinda sucks...

martin (olblueeyes) has his 40th for parts, and they would work great...but we need to know what ones to get

anyone with wiring schematics could ya look this up and see

posting pics in a sec

Calling anyone with the 97 FSM. There were minor differences from 96-97 and 97-98.

could a relay make them not work?

Upon further review.......I say RAC module. You got a bad used one.

The lights and door locks have one common box. The RAC. The remote function box doesn't have anything to do with the lights.

No-brainer. Again, this is without looking at the 97 electrical schematic, but this is pure logic.

Where under the dash is it located? I am thinking about taking the dash out before hauling the car to the salvage yard, but want to know if I need to. I'm assuming that I can access the RAC module by removing one of the lower dash hush panels?
LMK, and I'm sure we can work out a deal.

P.S. Got the PM, just thought I'd respond here instead of both.
P.S.S. You get my PM last week with my phone #?

Martin

i think that it is located on the right side of the car mounted infront of the drivers door.

So which side is it, the drivers side (drivers door reference) or the right side?
