Default MAN is my car screwed up!

hey
i own a 97 bonneville se and i just took it to the local audio shop today and i am getting an avital Remote car starter put in and the guy said when he went to begin installing it he said he unlocked the doors with the key and opened it, and for some reason the alarm started going off. now untill this happened i did not know my car had an alarm. he said it went off in a lil while so he put it past him and pulled the car inside and started to work on it! and the alarm just randomly started going off again!
i bought the car yesterday from a dealer and when he bought it at an auction he said that the car did not come with any remotes for the locks. umm i have NO IDEA what this could be and i was just wanderin if any one know at all what i am talking about and if i can get any help and or any fixes for it! i guess just keep me posted thanks a bunch

Correct me if I'm wrong - but I beleive the alarm is set by pressing the powerlock button inside the car and shutting the door. Then if any other doors are opened with this set it goes off. The security light on the dash will stay solid - I forget what blinking means. Although I still can't figure out exactly how I trigger it. You stop it by turning the key in the door.

I'v'e probably set the alarm off in my car 5 times unintentionally, and each time I usually beleive the passenger door is the culprit. When they were installing a MP3 deck in it, I heard the alarm go off a few times.

Thats how it is on my '89, I'm sure it'* similar for '97. Someone here probably has a better explaination.

A little more information about your car would help. Can you put your year and trim level in your signature?

Remote starter?
Did they do a VATS bypass?
Do you have RPO code AUO listed on your label on the spare tire cover?

umm it is a 97 Bonneville SE thats all i know for now b/c it is snowing so hard outside im not even thinking about going back out!
and when it was at the garage it was getting a remote starter put in. the starter is going to be an Avital 4100
and i remember when i got out of the car i had pushed the lock button to lock the car (obviously) i remember the stereo/security feature making an arming noise but i didnt think anything of it!
but i am taking the car back to the dealer to see what he says b/c when the guy at the garage had the car and the alarm went off he said he looked for the wire in the door to cut to disable the alarm.
well any more help i can get would be great! thanks
