battery drain
my battery will drain down to nothing in about 2 days. it starteter when i was in the middle of putting in a remote starter when i left the door open over night while working on it but im pretty sure the lights when off like they are supposed too after a while. i also have a amp and cap hooked up to the stock radio through the back speakers. i thought i would be one of them doing it so i took the fuse out for both of those and it is still draining. any idea of what to check that would be draining it and how to check if that is really it or not?

instead of the fuses, i would actually disconnect the amp/cap one at a time and see fi the problem stops. You may also want to check your ELC compresssor... it may be running trying to level leaky shocks.
EDIT: i also had a buddy whos power antenna was draining his battery

A 2003 won't run the ELC with the car off, and they don't have power antennas.
Pulling one fuse at a time while keeping an ammeter in series with the battery is the best method for determining the drain.

allright maybe i am doing something wrong or dont know what i need but..... i have a little craftsman multimeter and i blew the fuse on it when i put it in series with the main power cable on the postive side. i dont know if i used the wrong setting or what. here is the one i have. http://www.sears.com/shc/*/p_10153_12605_03482141000P not sure what setting i need to use or what one of the two red plugs i need to use in the bottom and what kinda readings i should see for when i find the right fuse

Put the red lead on the 10A ost, the black lead on COM
Set it to ADC 10A scale for starters. The two digits after the decimal should provide enough resolution in the mA ranges. That'* the safe way to prevent blowing fuses. Disconnect your positive cable, and put the meter between the cable and the battery.

ok what kinda reading am i looking for here. i got 2.40 when i had it at those settings. im gussing that is 2.4 amps then. and i hooked the battery again and just tested across the radio fus cause i saw another post that said that could be a problem and i got about .6 i will go try all the fuses now but i was just wondering what i should be getting when i pull the right one that is draining it.

You want certainly less than 250mA or .250 amps IIRC.
You have a huge draw on your system. Start pulling fuses one at a time until you see a significant drop.

ok now im confused. heres what happens. i hook it up with my door open i get about 6.3 then i closed my door and when the interior lights go off it drops to about 2.1 then like 30 secons later for no reason it drops to .31 and i dont have any fuses pulled at this time. one thing i just noticed today was that i think my dimmer switch is going bad cause for a while i would have to turn it on and off a couple of time for the interior lights to go on. and today i was trying to dimm the lights and they wouldn't dim and all of a sudden the switch startet working again and they would dim. could that be the problem or something or what else do you suggest

ok and now i have just been letting it sit with the door open but it timed out and the lights are offbut the meter is at 30 ma soooo i dunno what going on. i guess i will try and lock my door so the alarm is set and see what that says then but now that i think about it my last experiment when i got a new battery and have my amp and remote starter fuses out i didn't lock my door so i dunno whats going on
