Steering Wheel Volume Control

Does anyone know how to get at it? I think I have a short that turns my volume all the way up when I turn the wheel sometimes. I need to get it fixed pronto before I blow a speaker or get so distracted I get in an accident.

That's usually a problem with the head unit itself. But if you want to isolate for troubleshooting, do this:

1. Disconect the battery. Wait 30 minutes.
2. Pull the airbag (SIR or SRS) fuse.
3. Disconnect the YELLOW harness connector under the column, above the driver's huspanel.
4. Remove the 4 torx screws BEHIND your steering wheel. Gently remove and disconnect the airbag/stereo controls section. Leave the controls disconnected if they look ok, and put the airbag system back.

Now go test it with the steering controls disconnected to see if that's it. Jseabert's APPEARED to be the steering controls, but actually was a fault in the head unit instead. He replaced it to fix the problem.
