Default DIC systems monitor acting up

My systems monitor is intermittenly displaying low coolant and today it dropped
just below 1/4 tank and said low fuel.
Never did this before. Had to be in the yellow cross hairs on the gage before.
I wonder if I have a dirty connector at the computer.
Anyone know where it is? Is it the one above the glove box?

Try pulling the cluster.. Cleaning out those contacts on the connectors first.. If that doesnt work, give the Techinfo thingy a try.. Helped me a little in MY project, lol

I've mastered taking apart the clusters. You don't need to take out the black screws on 92-95 clusters. Just pull the gold colored ones. And use a little dielectric in the connectors it you have it.

Default cluster

Its my 90 DIC thats acting up. Have to pull the whole bonnet off to get at it.
Had it out 3 times in the past.
I guess it could be a connector but I prefer to check the easy to get at computer connector first.

You clean the low coolant sensor? That'd be my first guess.

The low coolant sensor in the radiator is a little notorious for spewing false alarms. You could try pulling it out (with the engine off and stone-cold) and cleaning its probes; just be prepared with a rag to stuff in the hole while it'* out because coolant will come out when you remove it. It'* in the passenger'* end of the radiator directly below the radiator cap about 1/3 of the way down. Look for its two-wire electrical connector. (You can also just unplug the thing there if its warning get too annoying.)

The low-fuel warning I'm not sure about, but you might want to check your connections going back to the tank. Granted, Bonne clusters _do_ go a little flaky due to oxidized connections, but I would expect a little more random weirdness to the symptoms than what you're seeing right now.

It'* your choice: if you want to pull the cluster and re-do its connections, be my guest; the cleaning will be good for it anyway, and maybe the gas gauge _will_ act better afterwards. Good luck...

Default connections

I think it is the cluster connections because now my trip odometer goes to 9 tenths and gets stuck there like it has no power.
Its that rectangular black plug in the center right?
Darn moon roof with the drip pan keeps the car humid all the time it rains.

Ah. Could be. Its processor is counting pulses from the drivetrain (something like 4000 per mile), and if nothing is reaching it for a new reading, it won't update. Sounds like a general rebuild will do it some good. Getting the faceplate nice and crystal clean again is worth the job alone...

Um... what is? Are you talking about the diagnostic connector at bottom center under the dash? I think you've lost me here, sorry.

lol.. your cluster is falling apart man!

First off, the rectangle thing.. in the centre [if you mean between the two tranny cooler lines, yes]. Have fun with that.

The trip problem is a seperate issue. There is a stripped gear from the odo to the trip. Disco Dotty fixed it and posted his fix on here. Search a little you'll find it. You have to remove the cluster to get to the trip and such.. which just requires removal of the top dash pad [three screws on the upper windshield vent, two underneath the woodgrain dash cover, and one more on the passenger'* side window vent {the small thing}]. Remove, and cluster removal is straightforward from there.

I've spent so much time on my cluster, just hit me up, if you have a problem. Chances are I have encountered it. My cluster gave me a lot of ****.. and all I did was clean it up and keep on moving.

Oh, duh...

I thought we were talking about the '93 cluster and its fluorescent digital odometer displays, not the '90. Never mind what I said!
