Starter Hotwire
I've been having problems with VATS for 3 years now, i did the bypass, but it still doesn't start sometimes, sometimes security flashes, sometimes it doesn't. My mechanic says that it's propably computer. I don't have time or money to fix it, and i think starter hotwire would be okay for me. Anybody has one installed?
I think it should be a wire from alternator, through fuse to relay to starter solenoid and small swith inside the car through ignition power source. Right? George 93 SSEi |
hrm... which computer? I have all the internals from inside the dash of a 93 SSE SC (basically SSEi) sitting in a box next to me. I might be able to part with some stuff for a decent price.

I would suggest against a hotwire. Vats on 95 and up for sure controls the fuel pump relay was well. It probably does on your year also. If that is the case and vats is the issue then your car may not get fuel by circumventing with a hotwire.
Since you suspect you have vats issues, my suggestion would be to double check the connections of the resistor. Once bypassed with a resistor you should never have a problem again. |

Well, i might have to hotwire the fuel pump as well. First i'll try to solder the connections to resistors instead using crimp-ons. |
Ok, i removed the bypass, and installed starter hotwire.
Works every time and fuel pump is working fine. Easy job. :lol: |
