I am pleased to say that I believe I have a solution to this problem. This worked on my 97 Bonnie, you will have to check yours.

On the dash of my Bonnie, to the left of the HUD is the auto light sensor which controls the lights. This easily pulls up (I used the end of a miltimeter, sharp and pointy) went around all of the sides and pulled it up. I wanted to copy and paste picts to this but I am unable to. Anyway'*, pull this out, take a small piece of foil and fold around base. This is the same bottom style as a 194 light bulb, no pins so the foil will sit nicely in the connector. Replace the sensor, and no one but you will ever know. No check engine light or Lamp Monitor lights

It'* not really a problem that I've ever been aware of. There'* a switch to disable them.

Why would you want to disable twilight sentinel that way when you can just turn it off with the larger ring on the headlight ****?

On the 97'* (probably 96+) the override will turn the lights off if you are in park. Once you engage drive or reverse the lights come on automatically.

It would sometimes be nice to override the automatic as they can come on a bit early. When angel eye halos would look good with parking lights only.

yup, 96-99 can NOT manually turn of HL when its considered "dark" out.

Cheetah..your topic name is w/o lamp monitor, however your SSEi should have a monitor. I am taking that to mean that you figured out how to do it w/o having the lamp monitor complain. Is that correct?

Billboost37, Yes that is correct. The lamp monitor does not come on at all. You are "simulating" that it is bright outside all the time and the mod takes less that 2 mins to compleate.

I don't get it, what is the foil for? Is it a shorting bar?

I do not like to use the word "short", but yes it does just that. When the sun is shining, there is less resistance across the solar eye. The pourpse of the foil is 1, to make it think it always a sunny day and 2, the foil forms easily and fits nicely in the plug.

You, did this on an SSEi? Will it work on an SE? I'm going to try it tommorrow.

It should work, same principles apply, right?
