unpluged airride shocks and battery still drains.?
o.k im sorry for starting a new post but i could not find my old one..
so i have an issue draining my battery when the cars sits for about week..(88 sse)..
i set the remote start to start the car every day at 12 noon for 20 minutes and it does...but with in a week my battery is so dead i can even inside lights to come on ...
i replaced the battery, disconnec`ted the alarm and still the same issue.. so i was told by a fellow member to disconnect the air ride suspension because i said it comes on every now and then and i was told it might have a leak in one of the lines causing it to come on every so often and drain my battery..
so i unplugged the air ride and im still having the same issue.......?
can anyone offer any other suggestions as to what could be wrong.. i would highly appericate if you can help me.. :?:
oh and if this helps .... when i bought the car almost 3 years ago i was told the reason it was left sitting for 3 years before i bought it was because it had a issue that kept killing the battery and thus leaving the old owner stuck every where.. so i got the car and put a new started a new alternator of 124 amps and 2 new batterys already...
i took the whole car apart and looked for spliced, chaffed, or and messed with wires in the entire car and i found nothing........

My car did the exact same thing. My air ride switch screwed up and the pump would constantly be running, so I unplugged the pump. I started my car in the morning no problem, then ide go to school and it wouldnt start up again at the end of the day. It did it 3 days in a row. I unplugged all my fuses and relays and pluged them back in one by one and measured the current draw at the battery. I found that my air ride relay was staying on and was drawing over 1 amp of current. Unplugged it and never had the problem agan.

i take it the car was off.. and when you put the air ride relay back in did you notice the battery voltage drop.? i will give this a try as soon as i can and let ya know if it works... thanks

exactly. As soon as I plugged it back in the current draw went from .03 Amps to around 1.1 Amps or something, I dotn remember exactly but that is what the problem was. After that I could leave the car for a month and it would still start.

Put your meter on DC Amps. Put it IN BETWEEN the battery and the positive cable. Your meter in a sense IS part of the circuit (series, not parallel like resistance and voltage is tested).
You'll have to hold it unless your leads have clips. Have someone else turn things on and off for you. Polarity doesn't really matter. Ignore it.

Disconnect the battery cable from the battery & put one of the meter leads on the bat. terminal, the other lead goes to the cable end. Meter should be set on the 10 amp scale. Everything in the car should be off & the doors closed. The meter reading should spike around 1-2 amps & then drop down to less than .05 amps when the ECM/PCM goes into power saving mode.
