Default Steering Wheel button reassignment NEED HELP

I have my steering wheel buttons taken apart and am repairing them as per the techinfo instructions which were GREAT!

The problem is, I have a CD player out of a 95 Grand Prix. This is the same radio that would be in a Bonneville, but the steering wheel buttons now have different functions. Imagine that each function was moved to the button above it, and functions on the top row, preset and band, are now on the bottom to buttons. How can i rewire this and fix it? I can't figure it out by looking at the circuitry. Does anyone have a wiring diagram?

There are three green and two red wires that go to the left button pod, and four green and one red that go to the right pod.

What does the CD player look like?

Did the problem happen after you replaced the CD player or after you repaired the buttons?

The cd player looks just like the stock player. If it weren't for the mismatched buttons, i'd say its the same as stock. I installed the player right after i bought the car, so i don't know if the buttons were messed up on the original tape deck/radio or not. I still have the original if i need to plug it back in and see.

I think they'd work correctly too. But i want them to work correctly with the cd player which is what i'm trying to figure out how to do.

I think i should give up because there are multiple resistors in series and in parallel on the circuit boards and both button pods combine to run off of a four prong plug. Now this is some serious sh**. I need to hire an electrical engineer.

I looked at a picture of a radio from a 1994 Grand Prix, and it does not look like the 93 Bonny radio. Does the radio have red numbers or green numbers?

So the buttons never worked until now, then?

93 and 95 Bonneville don't have the same radio. The only reason I haven't put in a 95+ cd player is because I know the steering controls wouldn't work. I could get a 92-94 cd player, but they are hard to find and expensive.

You need a voltmeter and play around with the buttons and the harness to figure out which wires you need to switch.

I need to find out what radio he has before I can tell him how to fix it.

Wow, thanks! I never thought to look in tech info for this weird problem. I had never seen that 92-94 cd player either.

I did as the techinfo instructions said, but it didn't work.

Let me clarify what radio i have. It has five band graphic equilizer, five presets, and the cd is inserted below the display but above the preset buttons. The build date is November 95. The display is green, the buttons are orange, and they match my dash.

I moved the light green wire (the steering control wire) from pin 6 on the side plug to pin 13 on the top plug as the instructions said. I had to go to a junkyard to find a 95+ plug to fit in the upper left hand quadrant that has pin 13, and i cut off the other 3 quadrants and used the original 3 plugs on my car.

Before, the steering wheel buttons worked on cold days, but the functions were rearranged. Now that i moved the wire, none of the buttons do anything. I tried the wire on all of the upper quadrant pins just in case the instructions were mis labeled.

Fuddy, the techinfo says my ECC backlighting shouldn't work with my radio, but it actually does.

I'm confused about which player you have. Your description sounds like a 92/93. Could you get a pic up of one that looks like it, maybe from Cardomain?
