dashboard problem
I've had the classic problem with the dashboard lights flashing on and off along with the warning pinging from the drivers information system. I tried willwren'* fix of removing the dash and checking the circuit boards for bad conductors. After I re-assembled everything I don't have a compass display or a drivers information display. The tachometer is the only gauge that appears to be working at this time. Since that gauge is working I don't think the ground is an issue, but I'm clueless as to what the problem might be. Any suggestions on what to try next?

All I did was unplug and reconnect each cableseveral times to try to remove any corrosion. I didn't have any contact cleaner handy. I figured had misseda plug also, but I too it out again and double checked, all plugs are in place. When it would flash before, these displays would sometimes quit working like this, I'm wondering if I could have disturbed an already bad connection at a plug behind the dash. I guess I'll startby looking for the ground connections in the area to see if my problem is comind from there.

I personally think your problem is WITHIN the cluster on a subconnection.
Remove the cluster again, and carefully disassemble it layer by layer. Take pics as you go if you need to, or lay things out in order.

By the way, great write up on the dash/display removal process.

While you're in there, may as well take a soldering pencil and re-flow some of the larger connections. Solder around where the boards connect together, and some of the larger components. I had the dash apart 3 times on a '93 SSE to clean it, which never did solve the problem, until I did the soldering. Everything would quit working but the tach, and speedo.
