Two questions:

1. Any aftermarket electronics on the car, including remote start, aftermarket keyless entry, or an aftermarket alarm?

2. HOW are you opening the door to set it off? Factory remote? Key?

Default similar problem with a 1992 bonneville SSE (stock alarm)

I too am having problems with the alarm system. the remote stopped working about 2 mmonths before the alarm started going off and the actual switch inside the doors would randomly decide to work and stop working until eventually they just didn't work at all. the only difference with mine is that the alarm turns on after i start the car, notwhen i open the doors, and it keeps going as a single honk for about ten seconds(not the regular alarm tone of honk-break-honk-break-honk but just one continuous honk. needless to say the neighbours were getting upset and so ive just disconnected the horn fuse so it doesn't make any noise. ive also disconnected wat i THINK is the RAC under the dash (Potter and Brumfield??) because that would make a weird noise as well and it would not stop. If anyone at all thinks they know what'* going on or anything at ALL i would really appreciate it.

thank you in advance

With the key.

But even with the doors unlocked
it will do it upon entry

But sometimes it won't do it for days.

i think this problem my be linked with
the eratic acting of my gauges from time-to-time

Ahhh.....the plot thickens. That extra bit of information is critical.
