Random Unlocking
Weird problem...
The 97 is unlocking at random.
I've got a Viper 791 system on it, and it remains "armed".
But I've gone down to the car 3 times in the past week to find her unlocked, and armed.
Infact yesterday when I was working on her with a friend, she unlocked about a 1/2 dozen times over a period of about an hour. (she'd unlock, and then unlock again, as if someone was pressing the unlock button)
My question is.... does this sound like a fault w/ the Viper or the stock security system?
.... even better question, should I bring it for service at the car audio shop, or GM first?
Thanks

I can just "not arm" the Viper, but as far as disable, not idea.
But again, the car was unlocking, when it was already unlocked... doors open (and closed) didn't matter.
As for the factory security, I'd love to disable it... but I don't know how.
How do I check the ground busses at the front door sills... I mean I've looked at the doors, there'* no rust or anything on the front doors.

How long have you had the viper installed? did it start after installing the security system, or just start out of the blue? Also did you recently have a break in which prompted the alarm install?

To best diagnose the problem, try putting the Viper into valet mode and turn the locking feature off if possible.
The reason this is suggested it to determine if the Viper or Stock system is the cause. The ground busses are under the carpet and taped to the wiring harness that runs along the drivers and passengers front doors. A flat item taped to the harness is the buss. Many find corrosion etc causing an issue. The remote fuction actuator or body control module may also be the fault.
Any other odd items like lighting happening?

For sure try to disable the Viper as other have said. With that said, I did not have any aftermarket alarm and my doors started unlocking themselves, often shortly after I would lock them. I found no corrosion on the buss but I never got further than checking that.

Yeah, those were my next targets...I think you or Will had given me the testing procedure for the BCM. The guard rail I spun into kind of "ended" my search for a solution. Mine started out intermittent and then grew to be every time, seemed similar to his problem. I'm sure you guys can pass the BCM testing info on to him if the cause is not the Viper.
