Default Head Lights ON & OFF

The last few times I took my car out in the evening I noticed that when I got home and put it in park the head lights would turn on and off. Is the light sensor supposed to do this when in park? Or is the sensor located in a position that it may be seeing the light reflection from the garage door or light in the garage when I open it. It also happened when I walked in front of the car last night to check on the fog lights.

Odd...not sure and shooting from the hip here.

I think the light is a good possibility...however there'* a certain amount of time that is supposed to pass for them sense the light before turning on and off. My example would be driving under a bridge or through a tunnel...it'll get dark for a moment..but your lights wont come on if you get back into the light soon enough.

Default Lights On & OFF

The only time I have seen this happen to me so far is when I have the car in Park. When I shift into Drive the lights are working fine. I even noticed that when they turned off in Park they instantly turned on when I shifted to Drive. But if I left the car running in Park for a while at the house they would turn on & off. Thats why I thought it could be a sensor problem or location issue or maybe thats just the way it is supposed to work to let you know that the car is still running while in park. I'm just trying to make sure it does not grow into a problem while driving also. And of course it would be nice to know if it'* OK or NOT.

Something is radically wrong here. This is a unique problem at best. When you place the gear selector in "Park", then turn the ignition off, the headlight time delay "off" is in effect when the Twilight Sentinel is enabled. There shouldn't be any headlights turning on & off. This must be a new problem, correct?

Default Headlights ON & OFF

OK let me see if if can explain this a little better. Or maybe everyone can do a test. It happened last night again. This is how it happens. I have the car in park and it is running idle. After about two minutes more or less the lights turn off & on again. My only assumption is that the sentinel timer is activated and is timing out. Maybe wilren or someone else can do a poll or set up a sticky to see if this is happening to other members when the car is left running at night in park. It could be that it is a standard thing that happens. I don't no.

I dont think so as for the thing happening alot. I have my TS set at about 10 secs, and Ive left my car idle longer than that w/o the lights going off then on again. TS works based on the ket going from "on"or "acc" to "off". TS keeps the headlights on when the key is released from the cylinder, but as for it doing the on-off thing, TS shouldnt be active at this point with the car in idle. Your lights will stay on if TS is engaged in park, but they wont time out. The time out only starts when the key is in the off position, if its engaged.

Something might be wrong with your dash"light" sensor, or your TS itself maybe with faulty wiring or maybe the module is starting to go.

No, it is definitely abnormal and is a problem. When you turn the car off, does the twilight sentinel act normal, in other words whatever "off" time delay you have set for the exterior lights to turn off ,does it happen? Something is telling the low beam relay to drop out then pick up again two minutes or so after placing gear selector in park with the engine idleing. The Dash Integration Module (DIM) controls operation of the high & low headlamp relays.
