Default Flasher Unit

Hi, I'm sorry if this is the wrong thread to use, I couldn't find the correct one though. My problem is locating the flasher unit. I do not know where it is so I was wondering if anyone else does.. I checked all around the steering column under the driver side dash but I can't seem to locate it. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place. Please help.

I'll move your topic to Electrical, but I'll warn you that your turn signal flash relay may not be in the same location as ours. Your owner'* manual should show it.

In most of the cases, I find that pulling the bottom black hush panel and sometimes the panel directly under the steering column are helpful.

It should be up to the right of the steering column. Possibly 3-4 inches to the right of the column. It should be clipped to a piece of metal structure.

Okay thank you.. I actually already checked the owner'* manual. It was not in there. I'll check the right side. I do not know what the black hush panel is though.. I just took off the panel at the bottom.. I'll go check it out right now.

Guys, I could not find it anywhere.. I took apart the whole dash all around the steering column and I looked on both sides.. How far up or down the steering column would it be? I called The Chevy Dealership because I know some guys that work there and they told me that it was on the left side near the door.. Then you told me it was about 2-3 inches to the right of the column. I need help immediatly.

Remember when I told you it may not be in the same location? Same holds true for a Chevy.

You need to call an Olds dealer.

According to my '97 FSMs for H-body for Bonneville, Le Sabre, and Eighty-Eight....the "Turn Flasher" is located on the backside of the panel under the dash, next to the fuse panel. Should be a round unit held on by a semi-circular clip with wires running into the harness that the fuse panel wires all run into.

This is a general diagram, but usually they deliniate if it is Buick, Olds, or Pontiac specific for locations. Good luck!

Great Picture, that should help him. I'm glad to hear that Oldsmobile still keeps that flasher unit in a safe secure location.

Also, if and when you finally find and replace the flasher unit, don't bother trying to secure it aroung that metal holder. Just button up the hush panel with the flasher unit behind it. Hey, ya neva' know if you'll have to replace it again.
