Dan, did you mean to unplug it and see what it does while running unpluged?

Yes, unplug it and start. What does the gauge do?

I'll let ya know tomorow. I have classes until 1:50pm. On my way home I'm going to pick up another press switch. Once it cools off enough I'll see what the gauge does running unpluged.
By the way, I want to thank all of you for being so responsive!

Just FYI if you take the sensor out without draining the oil you will lose some

Not a problem at all. We just want things working right.

Only a small amount will come out. Most of the oil will be in the oil pan.

Take a rag with you under the car and be quick. You'll only dribble a few ounces of oil.

Well, stopped by the parts store today and picked up a new pressure switch. After I got home and let the engine cool, went ahead and disconnected the currently installed sensor to see what that would do. Started the car and all of the gauges went through their normal start-up (moved through to max and then returned to min, and then to current reading). Oil pressure remained at min, and 'check gauges' light came on. Went ahead and replaced the switch (again), not to much spillage, and turned the motor over again. SUCCESS!!! Looks like the initial replacement switch was defective. Works now! Thank to everyone for all of the help!

BTW Dan, KILLER hood! Loved the write-up and pics!

Good to hear. I asked you to unplug it to see if there was a difference. Because there was it indicates a bad sensor. Just goes to show even a new sensor can be DOA
