Cool No Blower from A/C

Having a problem with the A/C -Heat Blower in the car. Auto climate control shows the bar go to the top, but no blowing from blower. I checked the fuses, pushed the AC on and off, lowered the temp to 60 deg, and nothing. Any suggestions for problem 1997 SSE? Thanks

Default A/C not blowing air

Isn't there an A/C relay underneath the hood you can check? GaryH

I had the opposite problem i had blower on all the time. It was my ac programmer. Its under the passenger side panel bolted to the heater core cover. In your case i would start with the blower motor first. Check to see if you have voltage on the terminals for the connector on the blower motor. If you have voltage then your blower motor is bad. If not then its either the blower module next to the blower motor or the ac programmer and neither are cheap. I paid 200 at the dealer for the module although you can get them cheaper on ebay. And the ac programmer is 300 but i found one at a junkyard for 80 so its not a cheap fix unless its the blower motor. Prey that it is in your case. Good luck.

If it does not blow at all, most likely it'* the blower motor. Try hittiing the end cap while key is on to see if it makes contact and starts.

You can connect a wire from the battery positive (with a fuse in it) and see if it will run. You may also have to ground it.

Then the blower control module is above it sticking into the air plenun that the blower pushes air through because it keeps the power transistor cool.

Check Advance Auto and other places for new replacements. The BCM can be accessed by removed a couple of bolts that hold the relay and fuse panel in place and moving them upward to get enough room.

This is _exactly_ the case in my '96 Trans Sport, in which the blower motor starts refusing to turn unless it'* tapped with a stick or something, and this happens about every 18 months to 2 years or so.

When it does, I pull the blower out, blast the armature, brushes and everyplace else I can reach with brake cleaner (just stick the spray nozzle in the side port where the rubber duct plugs in), let dry, add a few drops of oil to the right places, and stick it all back together. An hour of labor is less than a new blower motor and it works fine for a long time after that.

If your motor does that it tends to mean the brushes are wearing out. Spraying it cleans the dust and it works for a while, until the brushes wear more and everything covered with dust. It'* much better then a new blower motor, but in the end, your just prolonging the inevitable.
