Default Lamp issues

I have a 1995 Bonneville SLE. I have done at least one posting way back about my twilight sentinel having issues. Now I have seen the symptoms and can properly post what I have and see if anyone knows. My car now 3 times has done this, where I start the vehicle and the lights are on, possibly from the twilight sentinel seeing it too dark, which is fine, except they will not shut off. I can turn the car off, and turn the **** on sentinel to "off" and they won't even shut off. I have to D/C the battery and they will then OBVIOUSLY shut down. The other thing I noticed is that the fog light switch has no effect on the fog lights once they lock on. Yes, the switch has been replaced with a 96-up unit so that defect does not apply here. I have also even removed the switch and inspected it, and all looks fine. With all this in mind, I think I have what my father told me went wrong on our 93 LeSabre back in the day, a bad Lamp relay. If this is right or wrong, please do tell me.

We really need a person with a lighting schematic for 95. This is speculation, but if there is a headlight low beam relay, locate it, then remove to see if the headlights turn off. The n.o. contacts may be welded shut, or there is a relay driver present when it shouldn't be keeping the relay picked up.

I looked through the book heavily all night, and it does not seem like I even HAVE any relays for the lamp system. It seems to be that all is controlled through a LCM (Lamp Control Module) and that is behind the instrument cluster (yay!). This seems to be the only thing that I can see breaking, but maybe the book left out where the relay is (which would be stupid)...?

Hold up. I'll dig in the books for you.

With the switch and socket ruled out, everything I'm seeing is pointing to the control module. This is NOT the ADAPTIVE lamp control module, which you would only have if you have the full DIC with the lamp monitor like the SSE/SSEi. You don't even want to think about accessing that one. You don't have it regardless.

The Lamp Control Module has two connectors on it. C1 and C2 are both black. C1 has 10 pins, and C2 has 16 pins. Unfortunately, this sucker is located above the HVAC programmer, which in itself is a little bitch to remove. It MAY be possible to access the LCM with the Hvac programmer out of the car, but I won't know until I get upside down in my partially disconnected HVAC car, which lucky for you is my 95.

The FSM calls for the dash removal (a very tedious job), but hold off for now until I find out if it'* accessible with the programmer out. I have to replace my programmer and re-connect the airmix actuator on the SLE sometime today or tomorrow.

You'll know tomorrow. Today ended up being laundry, dishes, and yard work.

Issue getting worse now. Lamps turn themselves on after I get out of the car and won't shut off until I d/c the battery. Nothing else works. Dealer says $130 for new module, its 1995 specific. I was wondering if I could put a 96 unit in since GM can't get their act straight and realize mine is part of the recalled ones I've seen before as per NHTSA. I am going through hell trying to get them to pay for it, I might just give up and get the module myself and do it on my own. Wren - You said before you were looking up if I could get to it an easier way, could you let me know if that was the case? Everyone else (including Wren too ), can I install a 96 Lamp control module in its place?
