Keyless Remote Problems
so the keyless entry to my buick is acting up. Just recently i replaced the batteries in both of my remotes and when i reprogrammed them they worked fine. Now today on my way to my car from class i tried to unlock my car from an equal distance that i always have, and nothing happened. i stopped right there and tried numerous of times, still nothing. So i began to walk toward my car, i had to be right beside the car before it even registered and unlocked my car. Later on after my last class of the day it did the same thing only this time i had to stand beside the car and hit the button three times for it to unlock my drivers door. What in the world is going on here? i just replaced the batteries and i never had this problem before so my question is why now? Anything that you can tell me to resolve this problem?

Try this,
Take both of your remotes and one after the other hold the lock and unlock buttons at the same time until your horn honks and your lights flash. Do this about 4 feet from the car.
Now repeat 6 feet....8 feet...10 feet....until your back to where you where before this happened.
Many times this will happen when you replace batteries. The remotes just need to be resynced with the remote module

ok, so i tried all the troubleshooting tips that you gave me. None of which worked, in fact in certain cases it has gotten worse. Any other idea of what might fix this problem?

I had the same problem on my 99 SLE. Here is what finally worked. I bought a remote with the same number off ebay for around 20 bucks and when it arrived I dismantled both remotes (the new one off ebay and my old one that wasnt working). I simply replaced the old remotes rubber button insert with the one from the remote I bought on ebay and snaped everything back together. Remote works like new. I think the backing of the buttons themselves becomes worn from use and the more you press on them the less they work. Also sometimes they get dirty and don't provide a good contact with the switch. Anyway, try this and let me know if it works.

It may be necessary to place a thin piece of cardboard or some other material cut to fit inside of the remote. This allows for the contact between the button and the switch to stay tight. I used a piece of cardboard that some frozen food came in and it did the trick. Place the piece of material between the back cover and the battery side of the electrical panel in the remote. When you snap the remote back together it should feel more responsive to being pressed on. This may solve the problem all together without any new parts. Sorry I didn't mention this earlier and good luck.
