Sripped battery terminal. Help?
The inside threads of the positive battery terminal on my battery are stripped out. (Die Hard Gold battery, side terminals.)
Obviously, I can buy a new battery, which will have a new terminal, and my problem will be solved.
Does anyone know of any alternative fix? It looks like there'* some good threads deep in the terminal, but the outer threads are stripped. Are there any sort of gadgets like an adapter with an oversized bolt or something that will fit in there, that works?
(Can battery terminals on batteries be replaced?)
Worst case scenario, I buy a new battery. My battery just passed exactly five years old, so if I buy a new battery, it won't be a total waste, although I wasn't having any problems with the current battery.
Ideas? Thoughts? Anybody deal with this before?

As a temporary measure, you could get a longer bolt, and add washers as needed to hold things together. As it'* close to time for a new battery, that would be the better long term solution, and the amount of threads left on the battery to hold the connection tight for long.

I bought a new battery to solve the stripped terminal problem.
Second audio amplifier now successfully installed.
I upgraded from a single 4-channel amplifier by adding another 4-channel amplifier and put them both in bridged mode. One amp now drives the front speakers and another drives the rear speakers. It'* got a bit more punch to it now, especially on the low end.

Unfortunately the area of the battery where the bolts are threaded in are lead. Lead is a soft material that will strip out easier than the bolt.
The long bolt can help..but as you found...most cases it'* new battery time.
