When I was installing alarms and remote starters, I was surprised at the number of customers who came back bitching that their dome light was staying on "as a result of the installation". Come to find out, they inadvertently turned the light on via the dimmer switch.

Check the easy stuff first: dimmer switch, condition of door pin switches, etc.

I spent WEEKS trying to figure out why my coutesy lights stayed on.. I searched my FSM furiously, and just couldn't find the problem, everything always checked out. Then, I read in the FSM, make sure your dimmer switch is off.. looked over at it, yelled a couple curse words.. and then.. sure enough, lights turned on with door open, off with door closed. Randy is right.. check the obvious, don't be like me, and checking millions of feet, of wire when it could be as simple as a switch .
