How do you Remove/Replace those Itty Bitty Bulbs?

One of the bulbs is burnt out behind the HVAC Control Panel. I was able to get the bulb socket out of the panel but I can't seem to be able to get that little bulb out of the socket. What's the trick into doing this without breaking the bulb. Also, does anyone know the bulb # that I need to replace it with? I can't seem to find this info in the FSM. Thanks!

you have the knobby controls right?

Ol' Timer 12-05-2004 04:50 PM

Yes, I got the knobby controls. I went outside again to try One Mo' Time. I was able to PULL out the bulb w/o destroying it. The problem was that with the cool weather (50 degrees F) I could not grip the bulb. The solution was a piece of rubber tubing that I placed over the bulb and I was then able to pull it out. Now the question is, what is the replacement bulb #. Thanks.

Think it's a 194? 164 rings a bell as being in that area too....

na its not a 194, the bulb is really tiny, at least it was for mine, The bulb should say the number on it look REALLY carefully

I put the bulb under an electron microscope :cyclops: and I still could not read the # off the bulb. It's quite possible that after 14 years the # faded away or I accidently wore it away when I tried to remove it earlier today. If worse comes to worse, I will call a stealership and ask what the bulb # is and how much they want for it. My guess is the smaller the bulb, the bigger the price. :!:

Well, I went to the local Pep Boys and found a bulb that closely matched the burnt out bulb. It's Sylvania Bulb #2721.

And it works for me. :)

That's all that matters :).
