The 97 Bonneville I just bought has the keyless entry but the remote does not work on it. I even took the battery out my 99 remote, thinking maybe it was dead but it still doesn't work.

Does anyone know how I can re-program the thing without having to go to a dealer who will no doubt want to charge me for a 2 minute job and I don't have the money!!

You can use the search function in the forum and there are some hints and tricks to try with jumpering the OBDII plug. Here'* some info to start you on your quest.

Okay I will try that, any idea idea if I can use the remotes off my 99? They are in better shape than my 99 ones.

P.*. the thread that is in the first post of where you sent me http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...e=article&k=62 comes up forbidden and I assume those are my instructions on how to do it? Can you help me get those instructions? Sounds pretty easy to do but I need the diagrams etc. to make sure I don't blow up my car doing it!

The remotes have codes on the back. If the codes are the same, then yes.

Some of the older threads in our forum were never recovered correctly when the forum was rebuilt.

I am trying to re-program the remotes for my 97 Bonnie. Exactly how do you do this step? I am a technical dummie here so I need some laymens terms here I don't want to blow up my car trying this! What is meant by grounding and "jumping"??

Am I to take a paper clip, unfurl it to make one piece of wire and put it between the two pins (1&4)?? Is that what you mean?

I understand the rest of the instructions though. Sounds pretty easy enough to me. Just don't get what you mean by grounding and jumping.

Thanks Dan! Being technically stupid.. do I use a paper clip unfurl it to make a long piece of wire and put between the two ports 8&4?? I just don't want to blow up the car that I just got!!! Otherwise it sounds good to me, I think that I can do the rest pretty easy! Just want to clarify what I am supposed to do. The diagram looks awesome though, THANK YOU!

Paperclip is fine. Just look at the ports. You will see the contacts.
