Adding Fuses, adding heavier gauge
My MD player gets bucky and sucks too much power, as when I turn it half way up and it'* display "dims" when it hits hard. So, I figure it'* the small (14/16 guage?) wire that the previous stock radio used.
I'm considering adding a fuse and putting it on its own circuit, with 10 guage to be safe. I sorta wanted to add this circuit to the fuses under the IP, but realized that if I run the player loud, it could draw over 5 amps continuously, and I'm not sure if the power feed is enough, without drawing from other circuits that were already provisioned a certain amount of power (designated by wire diameter). So, under the hood is the next place that would make sense, in the Maxifuse block.
Question: Has anyone taken it apart? How hard would it be to add a circuit? I'd like to do this a little more professional and low profile than just adding an inline fuse and another wire from the battery.

What is the total current drain of the MD player?
If you add a circuit to the IP fuse box, can you supply the power from one of the two 10 gauge red wires in the ignition harness?

I figure if I have it cranked, it will use about 7 amps max. So to be safe, figure at least a 5 amp continuous draw, since I'll rarely have it cranked. I'm afraid it'll stress the IP fuse input power lines to have that much power moving through them, so that'* why I wondered about adding a fuse to the maxifuse center under the hood, and running dedicated lines to the radio.
