Default Radio and windows don't work

Every so often when I turn on my car the radio won't come on and the windows won't work. The lights for the buttons on the radio turn on but the display doesn't and it doesn't play anything. Usually it will come on after 10 or 15 minutes but i have gone hours without any radio or window control. Once the stereo comes on the windows work and everything is fine. Anyone have any suggestions?

Besides checking teh obvious fuse. .... Does your car have a wet carpet on either the driver or passenger side? There are grounding busses under the carpet on each side and they are prone to corrosion if the car has a water leak (pretty common around here)

Which would you consider the obvious fuses? And to my knowledge there haven't been any water leaks in the car.

Just to eliminate the possibility; check it out and make sure there is no moisture/water.

I checked the one radio fuse. That looked fine. Now to check the grounding busses under the carpet, is there any special way I should get the carpet up? Thanks.

It looks like the same fuse ( #8? ) that supplies power to the radio also energizes the window relay. Try pulling the fuse & reinserting or replacing. If that doesn't work we'll have to make sure power is getting to the fuse block.

I checked the radio fuse, 8D I believe. It looked to be fine. Now if the fuse were blown, wouldn't the radio not work at all as opposed to coming on and off from time to time? I'm just confused as to why it works sometimes and other times doesn't. Even just turning the car on and off will cause it to stop working, but then it will come on eventually. It'* just so damn annoying, not being able to count on your radio or windows.

Believe it or not, it is possible for a fuse to be intermittent. Doesn't happen often, but it does happen. If you haven't already, replace the fuse as a test. If that doesn't help, when you're experiencing problems, check to see if you have voltage at the fuse'* terminal.
