Default interior lights and radio

I have recently come to notice that for some reason my interior lights wont work all the time when the car is off and i lift the handle, they do work when the door is open though. ive also noticed that for some reason when i shut my car off, my radio will turn off for about 5 seconds then turn back on (until i open the door). now ive noticed that people have started threads on something like this before, but my question is if they work once in a while is this the fault of a relay or is it possibly the passenger side fuse and relay box. if any one could tell me where it is,how to get to it and possibly what to look for, for the cause of the problem, i would greatly appreciate it! thanks for all the help you guys have given me already. i'm down to only solving a few more small issues and my bonnie will be perfect!

My experience is on a 95-97 range, however can probably be applied.

The MALL module aka Body Control module, should be using the various inputs from the car to make those items work. While bad grounds could be the cause of the lights not turning on all the time with the lifting of the door handle, the radio uses retained power that IIRC is routed through the MALL module.

The best bet would be that we hope someone with a 92 or 93 factory service manual chimes in with the troubleshooting diagram. Those usually help pinpoint the issue rather quickly.

Meanwhile have you experienced wet floors/carpeting. How about any other symptoms, even if they seem unrelated.?

oddly enough. my fuel gauge is empty at a quarter of a tank and my compass will not calibrate, even after holding the mode button in it just goes to the zone thats it. i dont think those are related. how ever my sentinal lighting system dosent work properly, if i move it off of the high side while the headlights are on the dash lights shut off, the interior lights dont work when turning it all the way up to the interior light on position and the sentinel hasn't worked since ive had the car.oh and with the compass it always points nw

That may explain the interior lighting. While the MALL controls lighting to a certain degree, it does flow through the switch.

Have you tried replacing the switch that appears to be heading south?

i'm gonna try to make it to the junk yard this weekend and pull another headlight switch, ive already been to two and the pickens are getting slim. i hope to have one soon. i'll get that replaced and see where that goes. I just realized i did forget another problem the tach dosent work either, with the problems that the bonnies have with the dashes would you think that i might have to clean and possibly resoldier some connections on the gauge cluster?

When getting a replacement switch, make sure it'* the proper year. 92-95 were all switches that only fit the year of production. Different connectors, different ways to turn the twilight ****.. and very different in overall looks.
