Default heated seats and am radio

my 02 SSEi'* drivers side seat will not heat up. Hit the button, its comes on briefly and then goes off. Any ideas? Also the am radio will not pick up anything. Is this common? Everything else seems ok

Do you have a single button that turns the seat to Hi, Low, Off?

The AM radio won't pick up anything?

Yep, its the single switch. One for the driver and another for the pass. As for the radio, if your beside the damn station it picks up, but thats about it. FM'* fine. I had a Park Ave before this and the am picked up everywhere

You could have an open heater element or the heated seat control module under the driver seat is faulty. You will need a multimeter to check things out. There'* a thermistor for heat regulation in the circuit that could be a potential problem also.

Are you using your rear heated window when the radio won't recieve? My 2004 LeSabre, when the rear defog is on, won't pick up anything. The antenna for the radio is on the rear window and when the rear defog is on, it creates an EMF that blocks the radio signal. Phew. Does that make sense?

Thanks guys, Anyone got a schematic of the heated seat circuit. Need to know where to probe my meter to ohm it out. Haven't used the rear defog yet, car stays in the garage. AM just doesn't pick up ever. I do suspect its something with the antenna

There are many threads on the heated seats. Here'* a good one. You may want to try a search for others.

Locate the heated seat control module under the driver seat. It is under the seat cushion, not on the floor. Disconnect the C2 connector. Read the heating elements across pins A & C of the C2 connector, the resistance should be approximately 5 ohms. Read the thermistor across pins D & F of the C2 connector, the resistance should be from 850 to 11.5 k ohms which seems like a wide range but thats what the FSM calls out. Resistance across the thermistor varies according to seat temperature.
