Default Inaccurate HUD

Using my HUD the other night, I found that it is not as accurate as I thought. I am currently 5 MPH off (Faster) than my speedometer. Is there any way to calibrate it to match the speedometer?

Sounds like your speedo is off...

The VSS on the trans sends the speed info to the PCM, the PCM takes this information along with engine data and uses this for shifting etc. From the PCM, the speed data is sent to the instrument panel where it is split between the HUD and the mechanical speedometer.

Best way to test this is to get a scanner and hook it up and go for a drive.

Only solution would be is to take the needle off the speedo and recalibrate it to the HUD speed.

The HUD is gonna be more accurate. My scan tool shows the HUD being .5 mph off, and my speedo about 2 or 3 slow. Why my HUD doesn't exacly match the PCM, I don't know, as it'* all an electrical signal. The needle has to try to point to where it thinks the proper number is.

I would rather trust a HUD than the GPS. GPS still has flaws.

Tony, Your HUD is your speed. It'* accurate as long as your tires are the proper size. There is a calibration procedure mentioned less than a week ago in a very similar thread. (Good luck reaching far enough to grab the numbers )

We can scan your car and it'll say the same exact MPH as your HUD.

Bandit.. that great detector that didn't tell you until too late when the cop got me in PA.. yeah.. there is no detector that beats an instant on gun. (but this isn't the thread for that topic)
