If the plug is the same on the back of the gauge cluster, most likely. The only thing is that whatever the SSEi boost gauge replaced on the SE cluster (such as how it replaced the volt gauge on the 00+), the needle will still read boost.

I'm not sure either. Matter of factly, I've been interested in the idea myself.

It would seem prudent of the mfgr to produce 1 style of connector for all clusters to minimize cost...yes no?

OK SO TO UPDATE the clusters out of a 92 to 97 se model will not work they only have one plug in back and the ssei has two and without both plugged in the speedo and tach doesnt even work so it was only a 26 dollar chance ill try and get pics today my wife hid the camera. a person with the right wiring diagrams and some knowledge could do it but i dont have the diagrams or the time im thinking that you could rewire the plug just use different pins from both plugs and put them together and it might work i dunno if i get bored i might try i have two spare clusters now one is a 94 ssei and other is 92 se
