Default Trunk Tail light questions

Ok so I have an Idea..... I was following a current gen Rora and noticed that the lights in the bumper lights are very bright. so..........

I was wondering if there was a bulb that was a replacement for the Trunk lights. I want them bright like the brake lights would be if they were illuminated.

Is there a was to accomplish this without major surgery??

The bumper lights of the Aurora are rear foglights, possibly (probably?) halogens. It'* an attempt to add a more European look to the car, as European cars are required to have rear foglamps in their home country (England, Germany or wherever), since they have genuine fog there quite a bit.

You may find higher-intensity bulbs that you can swap into the wedge-base sockets that you have; just be careful that you don't melt your sockets (and you may get some grief from drivers that think you're riding your brakes).

You can install Halogen backup lights. Autozone sells them and they're quoted as being 250% brighter than stock. I've had them in my car for over a year. Helps alot when backing up with my tinted windows.

Bill, I'm curious- do you have problems with other drivers about how bright your tails are?

Not that I know of, since the wedge-base socket is usually plastic or some sort of flexible rubber stuff, which would probably melt under the heat of a halogen bulb.

However, there are higher-intensity wedge-base bulbs available that might fit those sockets. Numbers like #921 are used as high-mount brake lights, so you can imagine how bright those suckers are.

The interchange numbers are a little non-intuitive (i.e. there'* no logic that I know between higher numbers and higher power of bulb), but you can get the same bulbs repackaged as low-voltage lighting bulbs in home & garden centers like Home Depot. Those are listed specifically by wattage, so you can pick out a 7-watt bulb, 11-watt, 14-watt or whatever. Depending on the brand of bulb you're buying, some actually have their industry interchange number printed on the bulb, too.

But again, I gotta warn you that if you do put high-intensity bulbs in any of the red lights in back, you may attract the attention of nitwits (either with or without badges) who think you're riding the brakes (e.g. flashing their headlights at you, yelling at you at stoplights or whatever). Good luck.

My tails aren't bright. They're dimmer than yours, because they're tinted. My BACKUP lights are halogen'*.
