Default VATS bypass....

1993 SSEi

Does anyone have photos? I'm guessing if I take off the driver side kick panel I'll see a plastic sleeve near the steering collum?

Just solder a resistor in there and crimp the wires or what?

Is there a write up somewhere on this?

Cleaning key and lock cylinder makes no difference, clearly a VATs issue.

Moved to the proper section. Please read the Forum descriptions before posting.

It may also help if you actually explain your reasons/symptoms.

The car does not start at all. Security light continues to flash. Let it sit for a while, it starts fine.

Here'* something you can try if you want to get it going tonight. After cutting the wires hold the wires on the contacts of the pellet of a spare key & start the engine. Once the engine starts remove the wires from the spare key. I've read that if the Vats module loses the signal while the engine is running it will keep running & won't need to read the key pellet to start after that. You still need to do the bypass so the security light will go off. If this works put some tape on the wires so the wire with power can't short out.

No time to search..I'm fairly sure Randman did a few good posts on it with pictures.
