ECC control question

k, i feel like a retard asking this question, but i need to know. i have a 94 SSEi with the ECC. i know how the auto, and econ work, and i know the vacuum lines and that are hooked up-i get air from defrost, floor, vent. i want to know if there is a way to pick to have the air come out the dash vents, cause if i put it to auto or econ, it switches to floor vents, if i push the defrost it will go to the windshield vents, but i cant put the air through the dash vents. the only time i've ever seen them on was last week when it was 65 degrees for the day and that was it. i've had the car for abot 5 weeks now. i've had a few people oolk at the system and through my manual, but come up with nothing. thanks

It will come through the vents if the car thinks it's warm enough. Try running econ on 90 for a while, manually put the fan speed at full. When it's nice and toasty, push auto or econ again and lower the temp to 70ish. That should make it blow through the vents.

I'm assuming your display is not showing vents, but blowing through the floor.

it's showing floor, and blowing out the floor-unless i switch to defrost. if i do what you said, will it be warm air through the dash vents?? thanks. so , there really isn't a way to pick it yourself?

You are human.
You are non-intelligent.
ECC is smart.
Smarter than human.
ECC knows what's best for you.

that's funny!! :) i just don't understand why they wouldn't make it so you can control it on your own. if you want the computer to do it, then put it on auto, but if you want the power to be in control, you should be able to. i dunno. computer's are takin over the world.

Neener-neener-neeeeener!! US SE types can set the vents ayhwere we want!! :P

sorry....

Starting in 96 (I believe) the ECC heads inclusd a Mode button that allows the driver to select the air flow. Unfortuantely, it is not as simple as changing out the head to gain this ability.

i COULD help you

if you REALLY wanted this option and were ready to do some work (take apart your dash, solder a few things) I could explain to you how to add a switch to override what the ECC tells the solenoids and output only via the vents untill you turned the switch off to get back to auto mode. (I know alot about the ECC since im doing my own manual to ECC conversion)

But its alot of work... but im doing it!
