Default Wiring/Electrical problem on a 95 SSEi

Sometimes when I get in my car from being parked, I open the door, and the chimes sound...as if I had left the headlights on. The headlights are off (so is the twighlight sentinel).

Another weird thing I've noticed is sometimes the right rear taillight will stay on for 10 minutes after I shut off the car.

Anybody else have these problems? Any idea what would cause these problems? I was wondering about the headlight switch....

Weird stuff. Does the chime and the taillight anomaly happen at the same time? What do you have for aftermarket devices?? Alarm or remote start??

Both rear taillights and the front parking lights are on the same circuit. To only have one come on would be extremely strange... downright impossible unless the factory wiring has been changed to isolate each light.

Sounds like it'* being controlled by the RAP module somehow. But how could that be, there is no relationship there. That is weird, something may be grounded here.

The chime and tail light occur at different random times. The lights may be isolated from the factory on this model. I haven't checked.

I only have the factory alarm.

I have a CD player, (no other devices) but that is in the trunk and wired only to a positive on the battery and a negative/ground in the trunk. It uses an FM modulator.

I bought the car used 2 1/2 years ago, so I don't know if any wiring work was done b4 I owned it.

That'* a good point...It'* just that I don't know where the wires may be grounded.

On the door chimes. It'* probably the same sound as when the key is left in the ignition. If so try a little graphite powder lubricate in the lock. It'* probably in need of a lube job.

On the tail...only one...hmmm any water leaks in the car?

RAP circuit does continue to provide power for 10 minutes (or until any door is opened) but is not associated with exterior lamps. The ALM would be a good guess but it does not isolate the taillights. According to my 93 manual, both right and left taillights are on the same circuit. If the ALM was on the fritz, both of the taillights would illuminate at the same time.

*95 FSM please confirm*

I'm not trying to dispute what you are saying, but only the passenger side rear tail light lights up occasionally after turning the car off. It will stay on for 10 minutes, then turn off. It'* got me perplexed.

I wouldn't expect that you have water leaks in the ignition cylinder on the steering column. Please reread...try some graphite to lube the ignition ...where you stick the square key.... I know if some parts of it stick the chimes keep chiming because it thinks the key is still in it.
