Default Dash lights do not work

Hi, I have a 1999 Pontiac bonneville SLE. And for some reason the dash lights do not turn on. But the head lights and tail lights still work. Does anyone know what the problem is?

Check your fuses. I believe it'* the one on the drivers side under the dash.

Dont get mad... this is a dumb question... just gotta make sure... is the dash light dimmer switch turned UP??? all the way will click and the interior lights come on, but just before that click... put it there... then check for fuses lol

Default Head/Park Lamp Switch

I have this same problem with my 95 SLE. See my post from years ago (Head/Park Lamp Switch). The switch gets too much power and therefore heat from something. It gets scorched, the harness actually deforms from the heat, and I lose my dash lights. Eventually, I lose the tail lights too. I found that if I keep Twilight Sentinel (automatic lights) on, everything works OK, for years I might add. I presume you have this option. But, I have found no help from the wiring schematics or my old post on where I should look to find the source of the problem. There are miles of wires in a car... I suppose I would have had an electrical fire by now if it was going to happen (I've got 262K), but I would really like to solve this mystery and prevent such a nightmare for me or anyone else.

Angela, please don't post the same question in two different threads. It is confusing and dilutes the response you will get.

If anyone can help with this issue, please post a response in this thread:

that must be definitely by loose wiring or some short. its better to get them checked or may be a fuse is off in dashboard.
