Courtesy lights stuck on.
I just bought my SLE 3 weeks ago and right from the start the courtesy lights and power mirrors would not work. Thanks to this forum i was able to download the owners manual for my car and when i checked the fuse for the lights and mirrors it was missing. So i replace the fuse and now the courtesy lights will not turn off.
I started the car and the lights stayed on and when i shut the car off they still stayed on.
Any ideas?

Someone else will help. I don't understand much about auto electrics, so it'* one of the few times I pay someone else to work on my car.
Perhaps Boosty will be along directly.

Hi there..good morning...
Most likely your MALL (Bob..did I get that right?) or Body Control Module is bad. The tests include pulling door panels and disconnecting switches to ensure the system is not seeing a bad switch.
I'm off to get Bob as I believe that Majestic Teal buddy of mine already typed the procedure for testing ....somewhere..

Not sure it is the MALL since the lights are staying on..I am thinking, maybe door switch, but here are the procedures to diagnose the MALL.

This one may require some more research. I'll look into that fuse and see if I can make a logical connection as to why the lights are staying on.

That'* what is was thinking before I was smacked outta the way, , is that the door switch is bad. RAP will kill the lights after 10 mins if the door is open and the key is off

Bill whapps the cat again...
There are a couple different switches in the doors. If you had a door ajar then you could know where the issue is...however there is the illuminiated entry switch on the door handle that if in the wrong position will leave the lights illuminated all the time. And the RAP will not be able to turn this off to my knowledge because the FSM has you pull the panels and unplug these switches.
Then there is the test through the system on 96+ cars. After that the FSM has you remove the RAP or RKE (remote module) and if the problem still persists it has you replace the MALL or Body Control Module.
Presto...problem fixed.

Front doors have seperate door lock and handle switches.
I am assuming you are still having trouble with the interior lamps staying on. I have done some more research and here is where to start.
For "Interior Lamps Stay On Too Long" -
First, you need to enter the MALL diagnostic mode.
To do this, you:
- turn the key to the "RUN" position.
- Press and hold (keep holding, do not release) the power unlock switch on the driver'* door,
- While still depressing the unlock switch, trun the headlamps on and off 6 times.
- now, release the door unlock switch
You may hear a "bong" or two. If so, these are history codes to help identify the problem and you may want to note the number of bongs to help us.
Second, pull the driver'* door handle - listen for a "Bong"
Third, release the driver'* door handle - listen for a "Bong"
Did you hear a "bong" for each action?
If no bongs, then you are supposed to disconnect the Remote Function Actuator (RFA) and see if disconnecting the RFA turns the lights off.
If you heard bongs, then do the same procedure for the rear door on the driver'* side.
Start with these procedures and report back what you have found.
Also, here is more info on the MALL and its diagnostic mode if you are intersted in learning more:

that last one is the procedure I had success with on another members car. The bongs signify the switch being activiated and the system seeing each switch as it is activated.
Mall was responsible in my particular case..however proper diagnosis should be performed.
