When I pull the thing back to flick it over to high beams, I don't get anything, no click or transfer of light. So what do I do ?

are you hearing a "clicking" noise, does it even stay when you pull it back (I don't remember if you hold it back or push it foward?) anyway your lever may be broken as such the case with the Gray 92 I had, if so it shouldn't cost much for a new one.

It could also be the hi-beam switch, which is at the bottom of the steering wheel colum, under the dash, IIRC.

Bingo. It'* white, and has a small rod that runs from there up to the multi-function lever (turn signal stalk).
