Default Steering Wheel Volume Control

Does anyone know how to get at it? I think I have a short that turns my volume all the way up when I turn the wheel sometimes. I need to get it fixed pronto before I blow a speaker or get so distracted I get in an accident.

That'* usually a problem with the head unit itself. But if you want to isolate for troubleshooting, do this:

1. Disconect the battery. Wait 30 minutes.
2. Pull the airbag (SIR or SRS) fuse.
3. Disconnect the YELLOW harness connector under the column, above the driver'* huspanel.
4. Remove the 4 torx screws BEHIND your steering wheel. Gently remove and disconnect the airbag/stereo controls section. Leave the controls disconnected if they look ok, and put the airbag system back.

Now go test it with the steering controls disconnected to see if that'* it. Jseabert'* APPEARED to be the steering controls, but actually was a fault in the head unit instead. He replaced it to fix the problem.
