Just a warning to those of you with a 92-98 Bonnie.

I hapened to notice one of my tail lights was sitting low, and everytime I shut the trunklid one of the other tail lights rattled. I thought, eh, 7 year car its gonna have rattles. I paid no mind to the problem until one of my tail lights fell out and was hanging solely by its wiring. I pulled all the tail lights out and found one consistency, they are all made of a cheap plastic. With normal wear and tear that plastic cracks and breaks off very easily and will release the bolts holding them to the car. Pontiac offers no support for this problem and a new tail light can run you up $100-200. I reglued all of the bolts and covered the cracks with a heavy duty glue and then siliconed the gasket to the metal body. Not only did this fix the tail light problem but also stopped water from leaking into my trunk.

I'm not sure if any other Bonnies other than the '95s have the cheap plastic problem but you might wanna check to make sure all your lights are secure before they fall out.

that'* due to misalignment. Any time your 25lb trunk lid is hitting a peice of plastic on a regular basis, you should rectify it ASAP.

I honestly don't think that was the problem becuase the trunk lid wasnt hitting any of the other tail lights or their plastic bolts. All 4 tail lights had the bolts cracking or broken off. I'm pretty sure it is due to normal wear and tear. The way the holes for the tail lights to fit in are drilled I don't think it is possible for the trunk lid to move or hit either of the outside tail lights. Pontiac did the same patch job on one of the tail lights that I did on the other 3. Maybe I can get a picture of what they did later.

yeah two of mine where like that. i fixed it by getting broken lense taillights from the junk yard and just used the back of them. it also stopped my leak.

When I cleared my corners I used JB weld bond to seal them back up, that was over 6 months ago and they're still strong and leak proof. Maybe you can repair the originals?

I've had mine off and they were fine, As long as they aren't overtightened or directly hit, you should be ok.

Uhhhh. . . Thats odd especially since it scared the crap outta me when it happened. But I can't remember the name of the epoxy I used to seal the cracks, but I used a GE Silicone and stuck all of the lights back in. I have a feeling either the factory or the previous owner may have been responsible for over tightening the bolts. I did get a picture of what Pontiac did to fix the tail light but the picture is blurry and its hard to see. Basically they put some sort of black epoxy around the broken bolt and glued everything back together. The silicone I stuck on it fixed the problem with the gasket failing and dripping water in, so I'm happy.
