Hey guys,

Well after having my car for only 3 days now I have my first questions.

The moment I drove the car off the lot and on my drive home from the dealer (200+ miles) I had my GPS on and noticed that the speedo reads 3-4mph faster than I am actually going. So while I am actually going 75mph the speedo is showing 78-79mph.

At first I thought, oh well maybe it'* no big deal. Then I began to think that this must be affecting my odometer as well.

So I reset the Trip on the car and on my gps and have driven 85 miles now according to the GPS, but my trip on my car says I have gone almost 88 miles!

No big deal right? Well to me it is, as every 100 miles I put on the car, there will actually be 3-4 miles more than I really drove. So this equates to 3,000-4,000 miles MORE than the car has ACTUALLY driven after I get to 100,000 miles.

I know this isn't a huge deal, but to me, miles are miles and I am wondering if there is something wrong with my car. Is there a speed sensor that could be bad/inaccurate, bad calibration of the speedo etc.. Any help or suggestions would be great, as I have a 30 day/1000 mile warranty on the car and want to fix anything that is wrong right away.


Next thing is the Homelink Garage door opener buttons.

I followed the instructions in the owners manual.. hold down homelink button until it flashes slowly.. continue to hold down and now press and hold down the actual button on your garage door remote until the light on the homelink begins to flash fast. I did this 3 times, trying it with all three of the homelink buttons to make sure it wasn't an issue with just one button, but it still will not open/close my garage door. The garage has a newer opener on it (my apartment complex was built in 2003) so it should be an issue with having an older opener that doesn't meet standards like it states in the owners manual.

Any suggestions?

A) - Im thinking tires or calibration... 1 - being the wrong size tires.... even a small change in them can create a couple mph difference at highway speeds... are they the OEM tire SIZE tires or something a lil wider/taller for personal preference... 2 - the several sensors and computer parts are off just a hair and its causing the problem... a typical GM Dealership can connect the computer to the car and have it recalibrated, and in some cases make the difference in the computer to allow for different tire sizes so you can have the tire preference you want.

B) - Id think your right in it being the older model not matching up, but i dont really know... never had to mess with one so im not sure

^^^ Well I went out and checked the tires

225/55/17

and stock are supposed to be 235/55/17

So this explains my speedo problem. Thanks for the help. I figured it could have been the tires but for some reason didn't check that before I posted on here being I assumed they would have put the correct size on.

So not my question is, can they even do anything about this? Or do I have to wait until it'* time for new tires and get the correct size? (btw the tires are practically Brand new Michellin'*)

I dont want to guarantee that they can or will but i work at a gm dealership in parts, and service has on several accounts re-configured the speedo on certain vehicles to allow bigger tires... this mostly on trucks but i would think if they have the computer system that theyd be able to on a bonnie... worth a shot vs buying new tires, and questions are usually free lol

I got the Homelink working.. had to use the learn button on the opener itself.. now it works just fine!
