compass display

hi everyone,
my question concerns the bearing display on the compass. when the ignition key is first turned on, the display shows all the cardinal points ( n,s,e,w ) and all the secondary points in between ( ne,nw, etc. ) . after the self test routine is completed and all systems are on, it displays only the cardinal points. is there any way to get the compass to display the secondary points as well.

thanks in advance,
john

John...it sounds like you have a 92-99 SSE/SSEi, please confirm what year you are and we probably can't help further on what it displays. But we can know which version you are talking about.

No worries at all.

Don't know that it's possible. If it is, it would be in the owners manual. To my knowledge though..it's not possible.

hi bill,
thanks for the quick response. it doesn't make sense to me that it displays in self test but not during it's normal mode of operation. the owners manual says nothing about it, nor does any tech info i have ever found on this compass explain whether it can be set to another mode other than calibrate. anyway, thanks again for trying and i guess i'll keep digging and see what turns up.
cheers,
john

I've done a few parking lot circles in my time. From what I remember it's got the extra stuff to give us the mid point just like the compass mirrors etc.

Displaying at turn on, makes sense to me from a diagnostic start up test.
