Code 56 means you have a problem with the wiring to or the device itself:

1. Boost control solenoid
2. EGR
3. Transaxle or TCC

Does the SES light stay on at all times, or just when decellerating?

check engine light comes on decellerating.Does not stay on. where did u come up w/ that diagnostics for code 56 . not in the GM sunpro code scam. thank you

If it only comes on when decellerating, I would say it's your boost control solenoid. You need to replace it.

The diagnostic is from the GM service manual.

We have seen your problem numerous times before.

I think I've seen pictures of them posted here before. Do a search for "boost control solenoid"
