Default silverstar foglights.

don't agree with my car, I put silver star 893'* in my car FOUR (4) times 2 bulbs for each side, strangely they'd blow out in a weeks time, I get that one replaced an the other one would blow hmm........ finally I got tired of them and took them back. I replaced them with a 50 watt bulb (forgot the number) those are working just fine.

My question is, why don't the silver star 35 watt bulbs blow and the Silviania 50'* work just fine?

880, 885, 893 are all cross-compatible.

Keep an eye on your fog lamp lenses. 50/55W bulbs will get pretty hot for the plastic and you will start to see bubbled areas in the center where the heat is the greatest.

My suggestion is to keep at 35W or less. Maybe go with a major brand of blue xenons. That is what I have now and they work great.

hmm..... blue xeons aye? I still would use the 50 watt ones though (do they even make 55 stock foglight bulbs?)

I know what ur talk'n about when U say they bubble, maybe if I paint the tips it will be a little better on the plastic.

Painting the tips wont help. I bought some 55W 893 bulbs and thought they worked fine for months until I noticed the bubbles on the lenses. I switched to a 35W 893 and those are fine and still alot brigher than stock. The problem lies in having plastic lenses. If you want to go to a higher wattage (55W +), you will need to put after market fog lamps in i.e. Blazers or Angel Eyes.

Are the ones you are using truly rated 50W or giving off the equivalent light as a 50W, but using less, like 37.5W?

Jay, either the plastic is different or there'* more distance between the lamp and lens on our generation. I ran 50 watt bulbs in mine for six months in the summer with no problems. My new lenses are safety glass, however. Switching lights first would still be a good idea.

they should be the same, hmm... Jay, do U run ur foglights all day like me? if so, that'* why we have the "bubble" in the middle. After so long the heat actually starts to melt the plastic. I don't think Will uses his foglights all the time (whenever the car is on day/night) that might be a reason why Will'* never had that problem.

Yep...on all the time. They are brighter than the DRL'*.

Actually Bill had a problem with his high-wattage back-up lamps melting his tail light lenses. If he can drive around all day in reverse, I assume he leaves his fog lamps on too.
