Exclamation Steering wheel audio controls light out

Hello All,

I have a question on my 2005 Pontiac Bonneville GXP. I had a light out on the left audio control in the steering wheel. I went down to the local dealer and got a new one, replaced and now...NEITHER works, right side or left side. The controls work but not the lights. I wonder if it is possible if I SCREWED something up? Seemed kind of a bugger to fix but I believe I dit it correct. Any Ideas?

wow dude I cant say anything other than check your fuses. just a thought ...I cant remember if there are 2 fuses taped up running along the harness from the column. it might be a different car im thinking of but if memory serves me correct they are like a 1-amp illumination fuse for the steering wheel controls. give it a shot.

How much were they from the dealer, just wondering

I would check those 2 fuses mentioned, if you take off the driver'* knee bolster and bottom sound closeout you can find the fuses going up into the column

By the way the left Audio Control was $21.20 after 9% State tax......from the GMC/Buick dealer. On line it was 12.35 plus 15 bucks for shipping..from GM parts direct...yes that is correct tehy wanted 15 bucks...!!

Default Great Job you Bonneville gearheads!!

Pat yourselves on the back, you made it so easy a caveman could do it!!! The only difference between the detailed photos you provided was my 2A fuseblock was a rectangular black box with (2) - 2 amp fuses inside. One was blown out simply because I must have grounded or shorted when I stuck the small screwdriver into the tab area on the back of the audio control module in the wheel. (BTW those are a sonna@#$^^ to get out!!)

Again many thanks as all of your help made for a 15 minute fix at lunch!!
