Default Newbi-?- headlite switch

Hi I just got a 95 Bonnie SE last month and something went wrong with the headlight switch.

When I bought it it didn't change the dash dimness at all, which is okay, but....

I lost my parking lights on the first detent. They work with the headlights (second detent).
When I got the car I noticed that the headlights came on dim with the parking lights. I thought this was a daytime running lights thing. But during a night time whiteout blizard last week I put the lights to parking and saw better with the dimmer headlights.

I clicked to the brights and suddenly "no lights". I pulled the switch to headlights and got headlights back on, bright and dim, but ever since the parking lights are out. The fuse is fine....if I checked the right one, 6C.

Maybe the headlight switch was going bad when I bought it and got worse ???

I'm sure I'll have alot more questions in the future. I was previously a poster on W-Body forum for my almost deceased 91 Regal, 5 years or so.

Thanks for any help. Oh yeah, if it is the switch, I see the screws to remove the dash panel but what separates the headlight switch and the ciggarette lighter from that piece? Does it all come off together? I don't see any kind of collar ring.

Is there a fuse under the hood for it ? If so check and make sure it has power, underhood fuse boxes can get rotted wiring as they get older.

Hope that helps

Ok.. you have the twilight sentinel version correct?

Off to find the links. I believe you need a headlight switch and probably the connector.

Edit Link 1: http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...adlight+switch

Edit Link 2 (as you can see...I'm not only the President...I'm a member of the melted switch/connector issue) http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...light=meltdown

Here'* the basics. The 95 switch is the only year effected. You want to upgrade to a 96-99 switch and probably need to replace the wiring connector as well. When you upgrade the switch you will need the twilight sentinel ring as well...it'* different than your 95.

Usually I have one here..but don't at the moment.

I saw there was a recall to replace the twilight sentinal headlight switch but I don't think mine has it. All I have is a typical switch that has the headlight symbol, pulls out two detents, and should dim the dash when turned to the right, but doesn't.

I don't have the switch I see it the manual for sentinal. Can you tell me how the switch is removed from the dash bezel. I see the 5 or so screws on the underside to remove the bezel but wonder if the switch, and cigg lighter, come off with it. Gotta go look at your link.
