2003 Compass Problem
Hello everyone!
Recently I purchased a 2003 Pontiac Bonneville SLE. I've notice that sometimes the compass freezes and I have to recalibrate it in order for it to work. I get no warning that the compass needs to be re-calibrated, but if i don't it's just stuck on one direction. Any ideas or fixes? Thanks! P.S. I'm new to the forums so I apologize if this forum has already been created. |
Allen, we actually prefer you start your own thread than dig back for an old one. Sometimes they provide bad info, sometimes they provide outdated info. And older members hate to dig through the posts in an old thread to get to a new post.
Could be the compass sensor is on the way out, or not. My sub in my trunk makes it do that all the time, more an annoyance than something actually wrong. Do you have anything non-stock electrical in the trunk? Sometimes I wonder if even a passing under a high voltage line can set them off, or getting hit with police radar, they are so sensitive to electromagnetic energy. |
My compass was actually doing this before anything was installed in the trunk. Now, I have have a small 10 inch woofer in the trunk (powered by a 200w Mono Amp), but i placed it on the opposite side of the compass sensor (I believe) to try and keep it as far away as I can get it. If you say I have a bad sensor, do you know where I can find one and an approximate price? Its really strange that it works for a few days and then freezes.
P.S. thanks for your reply! :) |
It's a GM Parts item you'll have to get a Dealership Parts Dept. You could try GM parts online. GM Parts Direct: Your direct source for Genuine GM Parts if you know the part number.
